These direct glue shoes have been used extensively since 1999 in the central Kentucky area on Thoroughbred foals and yearlings.

BENEFITS:

• Easily shaped to fit the abnormal foal or yearling foot
• Very thin profile allows normal frog and sole loading
• Limits movement when healing or helping prevent coffin bone wing fractures
• Strong bonding to all acrylic adhesives
• Minimal surface prep
• Easily drilled for application of traction devices

Common Issues with Traditional Methods

• Corrective trimming on young horses lowers either side of the foot
• Uneven loading on the hoof capsule creates distortion and flares

Medial/Lateral Extension Solutions

• Treats angular ankle deformities and supports unstable knees with a balanced hoof
• Used mostly in “toe-in” situations
• BOTH the Urethane and Aluminum extensions can be flipped or use on any foot medially or laterally!
